The National Transportation Institute was founded in 1995 in Hudson, Wisconsin, fifteen miles east of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St.Paul under the name SignPost, Inc. As our customer base grew, it became apparent that a more central location would be desireable. Our offices were relocated to Kansas City, Missouri. At the time of our move, we also elected to rebrand as the National Transportation Institute, a more descriptive name for what we provide the industry.
Our objective remains unchanged: Provide accurate and authoritative mission critical benchmarks to truckload carriers. We have a history of providing detailed pay profiles of over 350 key truckload carrier company driver and owner-operator compensation plans. These pay profiles are updated each quarter in our flagship publication the National Driver Wages Survey. Each report contains 65 different categories of pay, benefits and driver policy related changes broken down into Van, Refrigerated and Flatbed categories.
Historically, we have been the source that carriers have used to determine their competitive position in the driver and owner-operator pay market. Our client base is a Who's Who of truckload carriers such as Schneider National, Covenant, U.S. Xpress, J.B. Hunt, Marten Transport, CR England, Heartland Express, Celadon, GreatWide, Wal-mart, Kraft, Ace Hardware, and PepsiCo to name a few. Our data is widely used by university transportation schools such as Northwestern University, UCLA and the University of Michigan. Numerous industry analysts and investors also use our information for evaluating opportunities in the transportation sector.
